When the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2009 NSW Junior and Senior Sprint Championship comes to Salisbury this weekend there are a number of local riders looking to make a good impression on home soil.
Representing the host club of the NSW Sprint Championship finale, Dungog Motorcycle Club, is a number of keen riders from around the local area and many of them are hoping to turn local knowledge into an advantage.
The NSW championship finale will be only the second event of the year for Dungog Motorcycle Club after holding a successful enduro event earlier this year out at the Dungog Showground.
Taking up the local fight for the juniors will be Nick Lean (13 years 85cc), Christian Clark (12 years 85cc), Brad Redman (14 to under 16 years 85cc), Jacob Peacock (9 to under 11 years 85cc) and first time competitor Scott Sullivan (14 to under 16 years 250cc 4-stroke).
Currently sitting in second place in his respective class, 13 years 85cc rider Nick Lean is keen to move up one spot in the NSW championship point score and claim top honours on his home turf.
Clark is looking to finish his year within the NSW championship on a positive note in the 12 years 85cc class too.
Making one of their rare appearances this year both Redman and Peacock are aiming to make them a good one and work their way into podium contention in their respective classes.
Redman has only made a handful of appearances this year, while Peacock is returning to competition after a nasty crash late last year.
Scott Sullivan, who has only been riding for the last 12 months, is set to make his competition debut this weekend and will ride in the 14 to under 16 years 250cc 4-stroke class.
In the senior ranks, the locals representing the Dungog Motorcycle Club consist of Trent Lean (over 35s experts) and the father and son duo of Glenn (over 45s All Powers) and Michael Charlton (Clubman E1).
The final rounds of the NSW Junior and Senior Sprint Championship is going to be held over both Saturday and Sunday and will start from 9am.
The Salisbury MVRG is located at 28/30 Salisbury Road.
