Major singles competition

Last Saturday at Dungog Bowling Club the semi finals of the major singles were played.

Howard Young defeated Fred Longbottom and John Lill defeated Michael O’Neill.

On Sunday one game of club triples was played with Harold Johnston, Fred Longbottom and Jim Merton defeating Dave Turner, Karl Gohmann and Paul Rizutto.

Last week at Tuesday Clique there were 34 bowlers.

Winners were Harold Johnston, Leyton Gooch and Ron Moseley. Runners-up were Bill Hudson, Wayne Pritchard and Fred Longbottom.

Dill of the week was Tony Higgins and treasure chest was won by George Vielhauser.

The nomination forms for the Dungog Shire bowls championships are now available at the club.

Nominations close on June 18. The championships will start on Saturday, July 3. Championships will be played at Clarence Town.

For more information check the noticeboard at the club.

This Saturday afternoon will be a bowls gala with two games of 15 ends to be played.

Dress will be mufti. Format and prizes will depend on the number of bowlers.

Names in by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
