Close semi final

27 Jan, 2010 03:00 AM
Last Thursday I had the pleasure of marking the semi final game of consistency, between Steve Copus and John Flanagan.

For the non bowlers, the first to reach 150 shots wins

It is a knock-out comp within your own club and not so easy.

As the game progressed to the seventh end the fellows were swapping shot for shot all the way to the 23rd end where John gave away a nine shot.

This put Steve into the lead.

Scores were Steve 145 to John’s 140.

At the next, Steve got a six shot to put the scores 151 to144.

This put him in the final against Ken Russell played half hour.

Steve played first and held Ken off for most of the match.

He was leading Ken by 15 shots at the 28th end.

It was Ken by one shot then Steve broke concentration and Ken skipped to the lead winning by 15 shots.

It was a pleasure to mark and watch, well done to Steve and John.

They had to beat some number two pennant players to get this far, well done.

Well done to Ken Russell, the overall winner for this year.
