What can you say when you mix a great weekend of sunshine, some like minded bikers, numbers pouring through the gate, and the most friendliest town in the Hunter you can not come away without saying a huge success.
A lot of bikers and campers arrived on the Friday positioning for the best site to pitch their tents.
They were rewarded with a great band for that night's entertainment not to mention bar prices that would match any premises in the area.
The Saturday morning was a little bit brisk with a slight frost however turned out to be just one of those perfect days in paradise.
Queensland may have their say of beautiful one day perfect the next well I reckon Dungog is perfect all days.
The unicycle practice drag practice revealed who to look for not only with fast times but the driver providing the providing the most daredevil approach.’
The hot rods and custom bike show didn't disappoint with over 40 of the most desirable cars and over 50 custom bikes.
You could then walk around the showground and scratch your head at other bikes that did not enter the show.
It just so happened that the guy staying with me over the weekend won peoples choice with his ‘68 Mustang.
The three bands were terrific and kept everyone’s interest all day and night. The tattoo show was inundated with entrants with some great skin work.
The demolition derby was staged in two separate events - the four cylinders and then the 6 cylinder. Both created great entertainment with 22 cars in the 6 cylinder event. Great spectator sport that.
The burnout competition was well and truly one of the highlights of the day with one you lady even lighting up her machine and I've got pictures to prove it, just spectacular.
The fireworks ended the day’s entertainment just before the serious party got the all clear to party to the early hours of Sunday morning. What a great place the Dungog Showground is for such an event.
The Dungog Showground committee bent over backwards in accepting our application for the Thunderbolt Rally they should be extremely proud of the unsung efforts.
The Central Coast American Motor Cycle Club would sincerely like to thank the township of Dungog and the hospitality they have show the club and visitors alike.
I trust you all have confidence in our organisation and with your approval this event could grow as big a Sturgis in the United States.
The great support we got from local businesses and organisations, service clubs, raffle donors and Dungog Shire Council Mayor Glenn Wall was appreciated.
The clubs main charity for this event is Cystic Fibrosis and I shall pass on what the club donated to them through the Chronicle later.
Thank you once again Dungog for putting up with some very loud but well presented bikes and cars over the weekend of May 14, 15 and 16 – we will see you again next year.
