For the second year in a row Bob Arthur’s buckskin horse has won a swag of national awards.
After Pierre’s success at the Buckskin National Competition last year, Bob and partner Rachele thought they would enter him again..
“Prior to last year’s event, Rachele and I had only taken him around the local shows, but this time last year we won ribbons in both led and ridden classes at the Hawkesbury Equestrian Centre,” Bob said.
“Again he was entered in both led and ridden classes and came home with six firsts.
“His major win again this year was for the best dun factor which is the best colour for buckskin horses.”
Buck Pierre was bought by accident when Bob and Rachele went to Queensland to purchase a property.
“We didn’t buy the property, but came back with a horse,” said Bob who is a butcher in Dungog.
“That was six years ago and since then we have bought at Clarence Town.”
Pierre, who stands at their Hollyarth Quarter Horse Stud property, is a registered Australian Quarter Horse, American Quarter Hose and Buckskin Society.
“We are thrilled with his success at the competition – there were 250 horses and some stiff competition.
“The best horses in Australia were there competing and for us to come away with these awards is fantastic.
“The judge, who has been in the job since 1974, said Pierre was the best dun buckskin horse he had seen in his life.”
