The Boomerangs played a catch-up match on Saturday against an in-form Thornton side at Dungog High School.
Thornton hasn’t been defeated in their last four matches and the home side won the toss and elected to kick off.
With the match now underway the Boomerangs weren't going to muck around instantly putting pressure on the Thornton defence.
Only ten minutes into the first half Charlie "Chuck" McDonald passed a ball out wide to fellow midfielder Jake "The Snake" Sutton who beat his defender and ran the ball up the right wing before laying off a well executed pass to Paul "Connie" French who managed to beat two defenders and fire a shot past the Thorton goal keeper to score the opening goal for the match.
The Boomerangs seem to really take control of the match with some excellent ball work being displayed by the home side.
The Boomerangs defence was shutting down the Thornton attack with Paul "Punter" Hunt playing sweeper, Josh "Skindog" Skinner playing stopper, Jonothan "Simmo" Simmons at right back and Keegan Jones playing left back.
The midfield consisted of Paul French and Charlie McDonald playing centre midfield, Dale Longbottom playing left midfield and Jake Sutton playing right midfield.
Up front were Rodney Muddle and Ewen Gibson. The first half ended with the score 1-0 in favor of the Boomerangs.
Thorton kicked off to start the second half and straight away Thornton attacked the Dungog wing and managed to beat the Dungog defence.
The Thornton striker then attempted to cross the ball to the far post, instead it chipped the Dungog keeper "Crazy" Carl Baker who had no chance of stopping the goal.
This goal from Thonrton leveled the scores back up to 1 all.
After conceeding the goal the Boomerangs seem to drop their heads a bit and struggled to get their momentum back.
Marty Moylan and Dylan Partyka were injected into the side and both played outstanding games.
Dylan was constantly asking questions of the Thornton defence and he finally made a decent break and the Thornton defence fouled him just outside the box, giving the Boomerangs a penalty kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
Dylan stepped up to the mark and fired a shot low and hard and into the bottom left corner of the goal making the breakthrough that the Boomerangs needed.
The score was now 2-1 to the home side.
With only 10 minutes left on the clock the Boomerangs managed to keep Thonrton suppressed and the final whistle blew.
The game finished with the scores two goals to one to the Boomerangs.
Jonothan Simmons was awarded best and fairest and Charlie McDonald was named players. player.
This weekend the Boomerangs will play at home against Garden Suburb at 2:15pm.
