After two weeks of no soccer or training the Boomerangs drove all the way down to Tredinnick oval to rival Lake Macquarie.
It was never going to be an easy encounter as last time the Boomerangs played Lake Macquarie they were beaten 5 goals to 1.
Out of respect for recent tragic passing of one of the player’s grandfather and one of the player’s relative, and also the anniversary of another mate, all the players were wearing a black arm band.
The guys started the game with a full squad and with the game underway it was the first tackle of the match and Gav Duck found himself being injured to the point he would not be able to play anymore.
The Lake Macquarie side were attacking the Boomerangs’ defence but the lads were able to hold them out. At half time the score was nil all.
Straight into the second half the Lake Macquarie side found themselves picking up a loose ball and firing a shot on goal to take them to the lead.
It was only two minutes after conceeding the first goal the Lake Macquarie side found themselves with another opportunity with a free kick being awarded just outside the 18yard box.
Lake Macquarie chipped a cross over to the far post and picked an unmarked man out who kicked it in making the scores two goals to nil.
With time running out for the Boomerangs things were not looking good.
Luckily Dylan "Patsy" Partyka found the ball at his feet and fired a shot on goals even though he miss kicked the ball he still managed to beat the Lake Macquarie keeper and give the Boomerangs a chance of getting back into the game.
With only six minutes to go Charlie McDonald took on a few players and beat them and fired a well timed shot which also beat the keeper and levelled the score to two all.
The match finished in a draw two goals all.
Best and fairest was awarded to both Rodney Muddle and Brett "Master" Bates and players’ player went to Charlie "Chuck" McDonald.
