 Nil all draw for Boomerangs

Nil all draw for Boomerangs

30 Jun, 2010 11:36 AM
Saturday afternoon the Boomerangs played South Wallsend, who are currently in second place on the ladder in front of Dungog by one point.

A win for the Boomerangs would see them move into second place.

As always South Wallsend fielded a strong lineup.

The match was underway and the first 10 minutes of the game was all Southy dominating possession and attacking the Boomerangs backline.

It was a shaky start for the Boomerangs with Southy attacking the backline and breaking the Boomerangs backline several times in quick succession.

Luckily for the Boomerangs "Crazy" Carl Baker was playing his best game ever and making some tremendous saves in goals.

Crazy was responsible for keeping Southy scoreless.

It took the Boomerangs a while but eventually they managed to get their defence under control and started attacking Southys end of the park.

With some excellent passing by the Boomerangs they were creating some excellent scoring opportunities but just weren’t able to fire any decent shots to contest Southy's goal keeper.

South Wallsend was awarded and free kick just outside the Boomerangs 18 yard box.

The Boomerangs set a wall and an offside trap for the opposition side.

Southy crossed a ball over the wall and one of there strikers headed the ball into the back of the Boomerangs net.

Luckily for the Boomerangs their offside trap had paid off for them and the goal was disallowed due to the strike being offside.

The end of the first half the score was nil all.

In the second half of the game the Boomerangs were playing much more confidently on the ball and doing some excellent passes and really asking questions of Southy’s defence but were still struggling to fire a decent shot on goals.

It was mostly one way traffic for the Boomerangs in the second half who were dominating possession and constantly attacking Southy’s defence who seem to keep closing the Boomerangs down.

In the last 10 minutes of play Southy started to contest the Boomerangs defence with one of the strikes using his pace and running through the Boomerangs backline and having a shot on goals.

"Crazy" Carl Baker again the hero for the Boomerangs was some how making some incredible saves and keeping Southy off the scorecard.

The full time whistle went and the game finished nil all.

Players’ player went to "Crazy" Carl Baker and best and fairest was awarded to the veteran Brett "Master" Bates.

This Saturday the Boomerangs will play against Metford at home at 2:15pm.
