Saturday afternoon the Boomerangs senior soccer team played a young Metford team, who last time, outplayed the lads and won 2-1.
With two players out the Boomerangs knew that it was not going to be easy.
The game started at a fast pace and it was Metford to score first when an unlucky ball came out of the defence of Dungog to leave “Crazy” Carl Baker wondering what just happened.
Dungog started again and it was Dylan “Patsy” Partyka who was to score next when Charlie “Chuck” McDonald put a well-timed pass through the middle to find Patsy who calmly slotted the ball passed the keeper, making it one a piece.
Rodney Muddle stepped up to the plate and kicked a beautiful ball that somehow found Marti “chook farmer” Moylan and ended up at Charli McDonald’s feet.
He then hammered the ball into the back of the net, giving the home side a one-goal advantage.
Dungog thought the job was done but Metford broke the home side’s defence and took the score to 2-2 at the break.
With a few words from master coach Paul “can paint” French, the lads come out firing.
With a nice ball from Brett “master” Bates, Charlie put in another rocket-ball which once again dazzled the keeper, giving the Boomerangs a well deserved win.
Players’ player went to Charlie “Chuck” McDonald and best and fairest went to Josh “skindog” Skinner who, still injured from last week, had a solid performance.
The Boomerangs have a week off due to school holidays but will play a catch-up game at home on Saturday against Thornton at 2.15pm.
