Summer festival in the park

24 Feb, 2010 03:00 AM
The day was hot and so was the entertainment at the inaugural Dungog Summer Festival held on Sunday.

More than 300 children, teenagers and adults made their way to Bennett Park throughout the afternoon for the community event.

Organiser Kylie Pratt said there was lots live music and lots for everyone to see and do.

“On the music stage there were local bands Side Effect, Override and soloist Mark Bale,” Ms Pratt said.

“There was also well-known Newcastle band, Benjalu, and cultural performances, including indigenous dancers, a belly dancing performance by Dance of Life and a drumming circle directed by local drummer Jeff Sullivan.

“There were gourmet food stalls, including local wine to taste as well as stilt walking, juggling, uni-cycling, fire spinning and face painting.

“It was a great day with lots of the young people becoming involved with the entertainment.

“We are hoping it will become an annual event.”
