Motorist trapped after car accident

14 Jul, 2010 05:00 AM
A 43-year-old man trapped in his vehicle after a single vehicle motor accident was initially treated on scene by NSW Fire Commissioner Greg Mullins on Saturday afternoon.

An ambulance spokesman said the commissioner was driving past when he came across the accident in which the Queensland man’s vehicle had rolled several times on the Bucketts Way near the Monkerai turn-off.

“Stroud paramedics were assisted by Gloucester paramedics and the NSW Fire Brigade rescue unit from Dungog eventually released the man,” the spokesman said.

“The man sustained head, shoulder and arm injuries during the accident.

“Local area Rural Fire Service personnel provided fire protection during the rescue.

“Once released the man was flown to John Hunter Hospital by the NSW Ambulance Rescue helicopter in a stable but serious condition.”

The Ambulance Service is reminding motorists to take extreme caution on the roads during the current wet and foggy weather conditions.
