Three Vacy people were recipients of district awards at the Education Week ceremony held at Hunter River High on August 12.
District awards are for outstanding service and performance in public schools.
Dean Hallinan received an award for his academic excellence, leadership, mentoring and support over the past seven years he has attended Vacy Public School.
Principal Kevin Greaves said it is an award well-deserved as Dean had performed at the highest standard in all he has done.
“He can be very proud of his achievements in that time - they deserve to be recognised in this time.
“David Williams was recognised for his work in coordinating the sesquicentenary celebrations last year and his efforts as a member and now president of our P&C and his contribution to our school over more than a decade.
“Anyone involved in our school knows David’s commitment and effort and it is nice that he can be recognised in this way.”
Mr Greaves received an excellence in school leadership award for his outstanding ability to involve the community in the school, specifically in fostering community involvement in the school through the sesquicentenary.
“It was very nice to have been nominated through our P&C and I hope that people have as many fond memories of our celebrations as I do.
“It was very nice to be thought of in that way and I do thank the P&C for their support.”
