Dungog goes global

04 Aug, 2010 04:20 AM
Local residents and visitors can now get information about upcoming events and happenings in the Dungog Shire.

I Love Dungog is now on Facebook as a global group.

Administrators of the site, Greg Fenwick and Wendy Farrow from the Dungog Visitor Information Centre (VIC), said anyone can join and give comments about the town.

“A company in Sydney sent up a sample of an I Love Dungog sticker with a letter and we thought it was a good way to get the message out there,” said tourist officer Wendy Farrow.

“The VIC was able to purchase a few rolls which we will give out to tourists and send with mail outs.”

Dungog Shire’s economic development and tourism coordinator Greg Fenwick said the link was set up on Facebook last week and already there have been quite a few people join.

“Facebook is becoming very popular with people of all ages and we thought it was a good way to promote the area,” he said.

“Photos of the Dungog area can also be published on the site and we are hoping to get lots of good comments.

“People are welcome to come in and get some stickers from us and put on their car – it’s a good promotion for the town.”
