$18,000 for Gresford Showground

03 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
Improvements to Gresford Showground will be carried out thanks to NSW Government funding of $18,000.

Country Labor Duty MLC for Upper Hunter Mick Veitch said a grant of $8,088 and a loan of $10,000 have been allocated to the Gresford Park Showground Reserve Trust.

“It will help pay for upgrades to the electrical system in the grandstand, the barbecue bar, the produce and main pavilions and the Stan Kellaher and secretary buildings,” Mr Veitch said.

“Gresford Showground is a great community resource and I am pleased to make this funding available in support of the local show and other events.

“These funds have been made available through the Public Reserves Management Fund which has a budget of almost $14 million this year for improvements and new works at Crown land reserves, parks, showgrounds, caravan parks and walking tracks.

“This is part of the NSW Government’s State Plan ensuring Crown Land is maintained and available for community activities.

“Showgrounds are wonderful local assets used for various community events and annual shows.”
